Be Careful of Common Auto Accident Tips
Many personal injury lawyers who advertise suggest that immediately after an accident, whether it is an Florida auto accident, Florida trucking accident, Florida motorcycle accident, or other vehicle accident, suggest the injury victim begin their own investigation right then and there — at the scene.
Think about this, folks. If you’re really hurt, how do you start taking witness information and snapping photographs? An injury victim at the scene of a traffic crash donning his or her detective hat simply does not look good. The perception — whether it’s right or wrong — is going to be that a seriously hurt individual in an auto accident is probably going to the hospital by EMS, and not standing around acting like a detective gathering evidence.
Think about it. Perception — right or wrong — can play a big role against legitimate personal injury claims. Defense attorneys and insurance adjusters are looking for reasons to deny a valid Florida auto accident injury claim, or are certainly seeking to minimize the amount of compensation paid to the legitimate personal injury claimant.
So be careful about what you read and listen to, without thinking about it and using common sense. Otherwise, you might end up with:
As an experienced auto accident lawyer in Florida, I help those victims who have suffered personal injury in serious accident injuries, such as auto accidents, trucking accidents, slip and fall accidents, and motorcycle accidents. I only handle legitimate claims, and have no interest in pursuing claims without merit or on behalf of those who exaggerate their injuries in an effort to generate larger compensation.
Because of my legal experience, as well as my morals and highest ethics, I use common sense in determining whether a prospective client has a serious, legitimate, personal injury caused by the negligence of others. If so, then I am here to help. Call me.
Auto Accident Injuries Often Do Not Show Up Immediately
Insurance publications have reported that only 1/4 of auto accidents result in personal injury claims. Interestingly, most people involved in auto accidents are embarrassed to seek medical attention, often because they believe they suffer only only from minor bumps and bruises. As a result, these folks do not immediately seek medical treatment, as the onset of disc herniation pain symptoms can be several days of weeks following a car accident.
Doctors generally recommend that as soon as possible, after an auto accident, an initial evaluation at a local Emergency Room is warranted. The reason for this: X-rays can be performed which will show any broken bones or factures. An x-ray will not, however, show a herniated disc, which is a very painful condition. Instead, an MRI is needed to show a herniated disc. Sometimes a disc injury can appear on a CT scan as well.
If the onset of a serious injury is delayed, the failure to have a medical complaint recorded may affect your physical recovery, as well as any potential financial recovery for damages caused by the auto accident.
While everyone wants to believe that there is no need to seek medical attention following a car accident, where the injury seems minor, the safest approach is to have a doctor perform a proper evaluation. Generally, that will not only provide peace of mind, but also document your complaints in the event, you do develop long-term injury symptoms, such as a herniated disc.
Bumps and bruises are not, in our opinion, worthy of a auto accident liability claim. A herniated disc, however, can be a severe personal injury having lifetime implications. A herniated disc is a painful condition for which compensation is warranted.
Taking the proper steps to ensure that you remain eligible for compensation you deserve following an auto accident caused by another’s negligence, is proper and just. So, protect yourself and your family, and make sure that following an auto accident, you seek proper medical treatment to make sure nothing is missed.
